Rumors
Rumor:
Osama bin Laden left the caves of Afghanistan on September 10 for the comfort of one of his palaces in Saudi Arabia. He's no fool.
Do you think we'll carpet bomb Saudi Arabia for harboring him? Maybe they'll turn him over for "justice". Maybe his influential family will object.
Rumor:
Congress has ordered its bunker under the Greenbrier reopened.
One of the Presidential bunkers is at Camp David.
Isn't it gratifying to know that our politicians will be safe. At least the politicians will survive if the rest of us don't.
Rumor:
Airport security: The airlines' rentacops prevented a US Congressman from boarding an Air France flight from Dulles Airport to Saudi
Arabia, yet United Airlines private "security" at Chicago's
O'Hare airport allowed an illegal alien to board after
confiscating 2 knives, but missing a dozen more weapons in his carry-on,
and checked-in luggage.
Ironically, the Republican Congressman had just voted yea on the
House version of the bill leaving airline security to private
companies instead of federalizing it.
Rumor:
Since all of it's mail is processed
through the main Washington post office branch, the Potomac Electric Power Compay
is refusing to accept all incoming mail, including customer payments until the
anthrax crisis has passed.
What do they know that we don't?
Rumor:
Bayer, a German company most notable
for overpriced aspirin, has marked up CIPRO at 2,000% over cost. However, the
Federal Government has bought up millions of doses for a mere 95¢ per pill,
thus depriving us innocent civilians of an alleged antidote to anthrax at any
price.
The Federal Drug Administration had not approved CIPRO prior to the current anthrax attack, yet Bayer had stockpiled huge amounts. How did they expect to get rid of their inventory if FDA had not approved it? Was Bayer expecting an anthrax attack?
Rumor:
If you should contract anthrax,
your hospital bill, should the emergency room correctly diagnose anthrax and
should you survive, will be paid by the US Postal Service.
Rumor:
The Direct Mail Advertising Association
is petitioning Congress for relief for the loss of junk mail revenue due to
the recent anthrax letters.
DMAA claims millions of dollars lost from citizens throwing out "business mail"
without opening it and forcasts the loss of this important business without
Federal subsidy. (in addition to the special postal rates junk mail advertisers
already enjoy)
